The only thing left to do is dance!

Elda has always loved to dance, so we dance and have fun. There are just so many ways to incorporate dance movements into a day, to help in difficult situations. For example, when she needs help getting into a chair, or getting up we do it with a song and a dance. It is a great way to embrace her and get her to move without feeling helpless. She allows me to lead as if I were her dance partner and we can easily get where we are going. Music is a part of our lunch and dinner meals. It's a nice background noise that can easily be utilized if necessary to help calm Elda, or to help her focus on eating if she gets lost by singing along or encouraging her to listen to the words or the voice.

During the last four years there have been months where Elda was too weak to walk or stand. I have had to hold her weight to get her from room to room and got her a wheelchair so I could bring her outside and sometimes to move around in the house. Yet Elda continues to surprise us, she finds the strength when everyone thinks it is all over. Elda is back on her feet and walking, limited as she is. The wheelchair now is used only when she is tired.

Elda is a testimony to the power of will and endurance. Here are some videos of how we pass our days over the last four years; we hope you enjoy them.
