It’s Bathtime Elda!

It’s bath time Elda was the third of a series of 16-page personalized booklets, able to be printed at home, designed for Elda to feel good and be inspired. The books are designed to be repetitive, simple and fun.

This book also features photos of babies bathing, since Elda loves babies, and has been the most useful book for me. Elda did not want to bathe; it was hard to get her into the shower without her screaming and yelling. She was afraid. The water was too hot, it was too cold; showering was an altogether horrible experience for her and me. The booklet is about needing a bath and being excited to take a bath. All the babies are happy and smiling and they encourage Elda, their nonna (Italian for grandmother), to take a bath too.

This booklet also helped me to understand, on a much different level, the importance of repetition and how it helps to prepare my mother for anything we do. It is my experience with Elda, even though she suffers from memory loss, that she can comprehend things with continuous repetition.

We read this booklet a day before I want her to shower, all day long. And when it is time to get into the bath Elda goes willingly now. It’s been since March 2022, and still working like a charm, and in fact is the only book that she hasn’t cut up or ripped. She still doesn’t like bathing, but she does not scream and yell, she just complains and tells me to hurry up.

Thanks to everyone who donated photos!

This video was 22 minutes cut back to show you how enjoyable it is to read together, but moreso how it stimulates Elda to engage, communicate and articulate her joy.
