Good Morning Elda

Good morning Elda was the first of a series of 16-page personalized booklets, able to be printed at home, designed for Elda so that she could wake up smiling and be happy. The books are designed to be repetitive, simple and fun.

The idea came about because it was difficult to find magazines or books that kept Elda’s interest; she is and was a reader, so it was important for me to find a way to occupy her and a way in which we could share something she liked to do together. The magazines I did find had too many long articles, not enough engaging photos and way too many advertisements that were confusing for her. Elda also gets bored quickly, so they were ripped up, destroyed or just discarded. I didn’t want to have to continuously buy magazines she wasn’t responding too.

Elda loves babies. She has a favorite she kept from a magazine over two years ago and the baby sits on our table. She talks to her, tries to feed her and reads her stories. Given her response to this baby I wanted to incorporate them into her booklets so that when the words no longer make sense the photos will tell the stories. This booklet is called Good Morning Elda. It is a happy story that was created to start her day off well. Even if we don’t read it every morning, we look at the pictures while we eat breakfast. It is not just a morning book, but for us it is how we start our day.

Considering the booklets can be printed at home she can rip them up, cut them in pieces that need to be organized or thrown away, whatever may happen, no worries we simply reprint them; then read them again.

Thanks to everyone who donated photos!
