Attending to personal care is not always easy, and a major part of dressing, bathing, hair styling is done by me. However, I always let Elda try first. For me dressing had become a problem because the bedroom has no place to sit easily, and our bathroom is small. I worry about her falling if she tries to dress herself, so I help her. For the rest I let her try everyday by herself, she lets me help her when she needs it.

Elda has always been fussy about her hair and makeup, and they are still things she tries to do, not as often as before, but up until a few months ago she washed her own face, dried it and put on her face cream. She still tries to brush her hair if she doesn’t like how I did it! She also brushes her own teeth which is also a way to ensure there is no food left in her mouth, and to clear her throat of any mucus. She also sometimes tries to put on lipstick, she has a harder time with this and gets it on her face, but we fix, and she feels beautiful!
